How to Make a Natural Deodorant (video)

9. mars 2012

One of the hardest things to do when you replace all your old, toxic stuff in your bathroom, is to replace the deodorant. I’ve searched high and low, and I never could find one that would actually take the odor away after the previous one was out of my body, so I was absolutely thrilled to find this recipe over at Wellness Mama. So thrilled, in fact, that I’m never going back to store-bought again – and that I actually made you this video, just to show you how easy it is to make it.

Ladies, I present to you, with Norwegian accent and all: My very first English YouTube video! 🙂

What you basically do, is to take 2 tablespoons of shea butter, 3 tablespoons of coconut oil and melt it before you stir in baking powder. I used 4 tablespoons in this recipe, but it became a bit runny, so I added some more afterwards. And then, you can add scents by using essential oils. Easy piecy!

It won’t, however, stop you from sweating per se, it will only take away the odor, but it won’t stain your clothes from what I can see so far.

I hope you’ll enjoy it! 🙂

  1. This was easy to make and worked quite well. HOWEVER, some of the times I have used this, I got an itchy rash and blisters in my armpits!:0 I don’t have particularly sensitive skin and have never reacted to normal deodorants. Might be because I used baking powder instead of baking soda, but I would anyway caution people, particularly about using it right after shaving armpits.
